Mike Williams Michael Oliver “Mike” Williams of Enterprise, AL passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 in UAB Hospital. He was 56.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Enterprise First United Methodist Church with Rev. Timothy Trent and Rev. Rob West officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise directing. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 9:30 until 11:00 am. Mr. Williams was born January 23, 1957 in Andalusia, AL. He was a 1975 graduate of Enterprise High School. He also graduated from Enterprise State Junior College and Troy University with a computer science degree. He was member of the Enterprise First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his parents, Oliver and Patricia (Pat) Williams, Enterprise, AL, brother, Anthony Williams (Joyce Ann), Leesburg, GA, niece, Olivia Williams and nephew, Benjamin Williams.

Jack (Sam) Bryan, Jr. Jack (Sam) Bryan, Jr. of Daleville, AL went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 10, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. He was 91.

Elaine Carver Stutsman Elaine Carver Stutsman, 85, of Enterprise, AL (formerly of Miami, FL) passed away Saturday, May 4th, 2013 after a brief illness. A graduate of Purdue University and long-time Miami resident, she worked nearly 30 years at Florida International University until her retirement in 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Paul M. Stutsman; and parents, Merle and Valette Carver (Lake Wales, FL). Survivors include her son, Daniel Carver Stutsman (FL); daughter Jennifer Stutsman Clark, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Cassidy Clark of Enterprise. Mr. Adams was born September 17, 1937 in Kingwood, WV. He was retired from the US Army as Sergeant 1st Class, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam. During his military service, he received a Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with 7 Bronze Service Stars, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), Air Force Good Conduct Medal (2nd award), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Army Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar M-16A1.
He is survived by one son, Glendon Adams Jr. of Daleville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister.

James Wilson Riley James Wilson Riley of Chancellor, AL went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in Dothan, AL. He was 82.

Mr. Riley was born November 26, 1930 in Columbia, AL to the late Mertlowe and Bessie Hudspeth Riley. “Riley”, as he was known to his family and friends, founded Riley Auto Electric, which he owned and operated in Enterprise, AL for 48 years. He was a loving, funny, kind and generous man who loved life. He was a very curious and inquisitive man, and he loved to discuss politics, current events, nature and science. Riley wanted to help others and would often do so in ways so that he could remain anonymous. He was dearly loved by many and will be sorely missed. He lived the last 19 years of his life on Lake Windsor in Chancellor. He dearly loved his home on the lake and the friends that surrounded him there. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and grandson.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mincy Riley, Chancellor; his daughters: Cindy (Joey) and Janine; sons: Daniel (Cindy) and David (Young); 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; nephews: L.G., Tom and David; a special great-great-niece and great-great-nephews.

Mr. Cotton was born November 6, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Lillian Oster and Paul Ehret Cotton, Sr. He was a devoted husband and father. He retired after 30 years of service in US Army, and was also a retired instructor pilot who could fly all of the army’s aircraft. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Helen Blubaugh Cotton.
Survivors include 2 daughters: RoseMarie Cotton, Enterprise, AL and Theresa Waits (Vernon), Daleville, AL; 1 son, Michael Cotton, Daleville, AL; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A lifelong educator, George taught or served in school administration with Birmingham Schools, Dothan City Schools, and the Geneva County School System where he served as director of vocational education. In 1988, George was elected to serve as the Superintendent for the Geneva County School System. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Bryan Osowski (Walter), and his brother, Jake Bryan (Dorothy). Mr. Barefoot was born November 1, 1944 in Coffee County, AL to the late Willie T. and Leila Mixon Barefoot. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Mr. Barefoot graduated from Troy State University in June 1967 and entered the Navy to serve his country in June 1968. He attended Naval Post Graduate School from 1971 until 1973. As a ships officer, Mr. Barefoot achieved the rank of Lieutenant prior to his discharge in 1977. In addition to his parents, a brother Curtis Barefoot preceded him in death.

Mrs. Martin was born December 21, 1922 in Coffee County, AL to the late Jimmy L. and Bonnie Lee Phillips Lewis. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Leamon Martin and a sister, Doris Lewis Daughtry.

USMCR(R) Joseph Ewalt Givens USMCR(R) Colonel Joseph Ewalt Givens of Enterprise, Alabama passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013 in Birmingham, Al. He was 91.
Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from the Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise, Al with Rev. Lee Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise, Al on Wednesday from 9 until 10:30 am.
Mr. Givens was born October 31, 1921 in Lincoln County Kentucky to the late George Ewalt and Mary Crews Givens. Col. Givens graduated Stanford High School in Kentucky in 1940. In 1942 he enlisted as a United States Naval Aviation cadet. Upon completion of his training, he was accepted into the United States Marine Corp as a fighter pilot. Col. Givens saw action in the Pacific Theater of WWII where he flew with the Death Rattlers squadron in Okinawa and in 1951 in the Korean War where he flew with the Black Sheep fighter pilots squadron. He was shot down 75 miles into enemy territory and was rescued from the Sea of Japan by helicopter and delivered to the battleship New Jersey. He remained in the Marine Corp Reserves until 1966. Colonel Givens received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, United Nations Ribbon, and the National Defense Medal.
Upon moving to Enterprise in 1955 he attended St. Luke United Methodist Church and remained there for 58 years. From 1955-1977 Colonel Givens was a civilian test pilot for the Army Aviation Test Board at Fort Rucker, Alabama where he tested many helicopters (Cheyenne, Chinook, Sky Crane and the Black Hawk) and multiple weapon systems for the Vietnam era. He considered one of his greatest professional accomplishments to be one of the designers of the in-flight refueling system and one of the pilots for the first coast-to-coast, non-stop helicopter flight accomplished by using this in-flight refueling system. After flying nonstop 2,610 miles for 31 hours the helicopter was landed on the doorstep of the Pentagon. This accomplishment established helicopter endurance history. He is listed in Who's Who of American Aviation.
In addition to his parents, a sister Gayle Givens of Lexington, KY preceeded him in death.
Colonel Givens is survived by his wife of 60 years, Paula Givens, brother Jack Givens (Marguerite) of Houston, Texas, three children Cheryl Field (Kenneth) of Colorado Springs, Bromleigh Naftel (David) and Paul Givens (Tina) both of Birmingham, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Jerry Vincent Maddox Jerry Vincent Maddox of Dothan passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at his residence. He was 42. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Friday from the Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Enterprise with Minister’s Greg Jordan and Kevin Presley officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadowlawn cemetery. Vince was born September 15, 1970 in Opp, Alabama to Houston and Carolyn Cartwright Maddox. After graduating high school in Opp, he entered Auburn University where he earned a degree in Liberal Arts in the year 2000. He was a member of the Hartford Hwy Church of Christ and had been involved as an investor in real estate for a number of years. Survivors include his wife, Tammy Maddox, Dothan, daughters: Hannah Alexis Maddox and Haley Jo Maddox , son: Thomas Vincent Maddox all of Dothan, his parents, Houston and Carolyn Maddox, Dothan, sister: Angela Wilson (Michael), Texas, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

William "Bill" S. Pearsall Jr. Mr. William “Bill” S. Pearsall Jr. of Enterprise, Al passed away March 1, 2013 at his residence. He was 68.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes there will be no type of services held. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 5–7 pm at the family residence, 302 Tartan Way, Enterprise, Al.
Bill was born on November 27, 1944 in Washington, D.C. to William and Mary Pratt Pearsall. Bill and his family moved into Enterprise, Al in 1986. He served in the United States Army for over 21 years and retired as an NCOIC of the military police at Fort Rucker. He served in Viet Nam, two tours to Korea as well as multiple duty stations in the United States. Bill was a man of his word, yet he spoke very little. After retirement he spent his remaining years in Enterprise as a maintenance contractor for many of the real estate offices in the wiregrass area. He was also instrumental in the housing boom of recent years.
Bill was preceded in death by his father William Pearsall.
Survivors include his loving wife Neva Pearsall, step-daughter, Karrie Scanlon; step-son Jack Scanlon (Missy), all of Enterprise; grandchildren: Jacob Scanlon, Frenso, CA, Ashley Lovejoy, Memphis, TN, Jaxon and Spencer Scanlon, Enterprise, AL, mother, Mary Marie Pearsall, Panama City, FL.
His entire family and friends want to thank Covenant Hospice for their outstanding services during Bill’s brief bout with cancer.

James Edward Carr Mr. James Edward Carr passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 in the William F. Green State Veteran’s Home in Bay Minette, AL. He was 81. Memorial services with full military honors will be at 2 pm Thursday, February 28, 2013 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory. Mr. Carr was born July 29, 1931 in Cameron, WV to the late Edwin and Icie Teagarden Carr. He was retired from the US Army. He served two tours in Vietnam and in the Korean War and received a Bronze Star Medal. After retiring from the military, he instructed ROTC in Greensboro, FL. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed playing golf and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wesley Carr; 3 sisters: Mary Abromowitz, Leona Carr, Iona Blake; and a great-grandson, Matthew Bailey. She was a member of New Home Baptist Church. Leonard Stanley Brozoski Mr. Leonard Stanley Brozoski, age 86, passed away at his residence in Enterprise, AL on Thursday, February 21, 2013, surrounded by his family. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 10 am at Our Lady of Loretta Main Post Chapel at Fort Rucker with Father Hieu Ha officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory directing. Mr. Len was born November 15, 1926, in Shamokin, PA, to Veronica and Stanley Brozoski. He has lived in Enterprise, AL for the past 40 years. He was retired from Singer-Link Corporation where he was employed as an electronics technician responsible for installing and maintaining flight simulators. Len was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served as a SeaBee during World War II and Radioman during the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, particularly enjoying being in the woods. Len was a self-taught mechanic, craftsman, and builder, who often spent time helping neighbors and friends with home and automobile repair projects. Having his family together around the dinner table brought Len great enjoyment. Mr. Len was preceded in death by his parents, Veronica and Stanley Brozoski, step-mother, Rose Brozoski, and his sisters, Catherine Hertzog and Dorothy Beresky. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Brozoski, Enterprise; sons: Frederick Brozoski and Kevin Brozoski (Mary), Dothan; sister, Marie Snyder, Birdsboro, PA; brother, Stanley Brozoski, Wilmington, DE; several nieces and nephews; as well as his extended family in Canada, Ken and Gen Littlewood and their children. Ruby Kate Scott Curington Mrs. Ruby Kate Curington passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Medical Center Enterprise. She was 81. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Donny Thrasher, Reverend Hubert McWaters, and Reverend Sam Williams officiating. Mrs. Kate was born on December 11, 1931 to the late Rosa Emily and Willis Gordon Scott. In addition to her parents, her husband Chapple D. Curington, four brothers, Luke, Calvin, Ned and Carey Scott and one sister Leslie Spann preceded her in death. She was a member of the Grace Place Church where she had taught preschool for many years. She owned and operated Kate’s Beauty Salon until her retirement in 2011. She enjoyed several hobbies some of which included: cooking, quilting, embroidering, and gardening. She was a witness for her Lord and Savior as well as a loyal friend to all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Jerl D. Roby Mr. Jerl D. Roby of Enterprise, AL passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013 in Enterprise. He was 70 years old. There are no services scheduled at this time. Mr. Roby was born October 10, 1942 in Knox City, TX to the late Doil Ray and Verdie Alice Jones Roby. Mr. Roby served in the Army for 20 years, retiring as a CW3. His many accomplishments include, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three campaign stars,Vietnam Campaign Medal, Senior Army Aviators Badge, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Air Medal two Overseas Service Bars, Army Service Ribbon and one Overseas Service Ribbon. He flew for 23 years as a maintenance test pilot at Fort Rucker, retiring in 2005. He loved to bowl and play golf. Alcohol gave you wings then took away the sky, but Honey, God has given your wings and the sky back to you so you can soar to Heaven. He is survived by his wife, Delores (Dee) Ann Roby, Enterprise; 1 son, Justin D. Roby (Kim), Cumberland Furnace, TN; 3 step-children: Gerald D. Oster (Tammy), Mandan, ND, Raymond A. Oster, Box Elder, SF, Dorothy L. Fund (Arthur), Mandan, ND; 13 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren. He will be badly missed by all.

Marian Louise Brown  Our precious mother, Marian Louise Brown, went home to be with the Lord Monday, January 21, 2013 in Enterprise. She was 95. Funeral services will be at 11 am Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 until 11 am. She will be interred Friday, January 25 at 10 am in Deland Memorial Gardens in Deland, Florida. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Grace Place Building Fund. Marian was born May 12, 1917 in Kalamazoo, MI to the late Jay and Alice Copeman. She was married in 1936 to James Brown, who preceded her in death in 2003. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy McKay of Decatur, MI and a granddaughter, Julie Ozden. She was a kind, compassionate lady who touched many lives. She moved to Enterprise in 2003 and became a grandma and mother to many of the people who knew her. Her life reflected her love and compassion for everyone she met. She will be missed and always loved. Carrie Anne Yarbrough Carrie Anne Yarbrough of Enterprise, AL passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 in Chipley, FL. She was 79. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise with Rev. Sam Williams and Pastor Sean Rezek officiating. Burial will follow in the Wesley Chapel cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 10 until 11 am. Mrs. Yarbrough was born October 15, 1933 in New Brockton, AL to the late Jim and Annie Ward Warren. She later moved to Enterprise where she lived for 70 years. She was a faithful wife, mother and friend. She never hesitated to tell others how much she loved her family, church family, friends and her Savior Jesus Christ. Her passions were her children and her flower gardens. They were her retreat from the cares of the world. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Yarbrough. James Alton Adams Mr. James Alton (Buck) Adams of Enterprise, AL passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012 in Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 80 years old. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 29, 2012 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise with Rev. Hollis Bradley and Rev. Marcus Ramer officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5pm until 7 pm. Mr. Adams was born September 29, 1932 in Paxton, Florida to the late James Oscar and Viola Cooper Adams. He was retired from the United States Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Young and a brother, Roy Adams.
